Yesterday was quite a historic day in the world of UK cycling as the racing teams of the VeloClubUK.com project got together for the first time for the official racing team launch.
The day started with Wayne Greenalgh explaining the VCUK project and how all the teams fitted into the pyramid and what the opportunities were for the riders in the years ahead:
Our riders were sat alongside the Junior team ready to take to the stage to be introduced and questioned – the boys were taken by surprise by this but all showed their class by handling the pressure very well indeed and gave some great answers:
It was fantastic to see all the teams together in one place bringing a real family feel to the project and a willingness to work towards the same goal, which for everyone was development of their riders with some success along the way:
The riders were then asked to take to the stage for some team shots and our riders looked fantastic – you will note that we only had 4 out of the 5 riders as Halley was away in France with school, so could not make it.

The afternoon was rounded off with the presentation of the Junior, Senior and Triathlon teams and a rousing inspirational call to arms from Wayne sent all the riders away fired up and ready for the season.
One rider from each team was asked to join in the celebrations with a cutting of a specially made cake and this was then sent out to the audience to enjoy:
The 2015 VCUK project is now officially launched and our team would like to thank all our sponsors for getting us to this point – the hard work for the riders begins now and we will have more reports for you as the season unfolds.
